Genius loci is a phenomenon likewise popular and contested. The talk will present an outline that allows to explore the concept of a “genius of place” and contextualize it within the current debate on new understandings of the relation between humans and nature.

Jens Badura is a philosopher. His research focusses on transdisciplinary cultural theory and aesthetics. Amongst others he is currently Senior Fellow at the “Institute Cultures of the Alps” (Altdorf/University of Lucerne). Furthermore he runs the berg_kulturbüro in Berchtesgaden/D.
