The Genius of Place
Outline of an Aesthetic Topology
Jens Badura
«Genius loci» is a phenomenon likewise popular and contested. Here, «genius loci» is caracterized as a medium for aesthetic correspondence between humans and their environment. In the lecture, this correspondence has been further explored and conceptualized. The working thesis was, that a substantial ability to correspond to the genius loci of a place is a condition of «being at home» (dwelling) in the world.
